I am back in Arizona, though a bit begrudgingly. I'm not sure why leaving home and settling back into a routine was so difficult this time. Maybe it's the fact that I still have a few weeks before school starts, and my days are somewhat empty. Or maybe it was the world's biggest spider in the hallway on Wednesday night that I had the world's biggest panic attack over. Either way, I'm slowly adjusting to the quiet and definitely ready for school to start back up. The good news is, we have things to look forward to even before school starts! Next weekend the Agnews will be in town for a wedding, and are staying with us :) We definitely are planning on taking them to Oregano's and maybe even up North. Either way, I love guests. And, I think Rob and I might make a spontaneous trip up North tomorrow. It's been surprisingly cloudy and cool (for Arizona at least...sitting right about 100) the past few days, but awkwardly humid as well. I think heading up North for a little cooler weather and just a chance to get out for a bit is a good idea. Our last minute planning session over grilled pizza will commence tonight :)
Okay, now let's talk about my trip home. It was fast. Very fast. But altogether wonderful. I saw a lot of family I hadn't seen since my wedding, and had more time to catch up with them at Shelly's wedding than I did at my own, which was really nice. I helped with a lot of the last minute preparation work leading up to the wedding....putting together out-of-town guest bags for the hotel, double checking the name cards, creating the program, setting up flowers at the reception hall, that sort of thing. Mom and I baked cookies together and sat out on the patio super late one night drinking wine and chatting with Mrs. Dean. We baked pizza with dough from Trader Joe's (and seriously missed Rob's help with the dough formation). Jenn and Jake came over for breakfast, I went out to breakfast with Dad, I got to know Adam's girlfriend. I didn't drink 76 gallons of water each day. I almost died running in the humidity one morning. (Yes, this is the world's most unorganized list, but it's what I'm remembering at the moment.) Shelly and PJ got married. There was a big party :) Honestly, it was a gorgeous wedding. People danced all night at the reception and I think were really impressed by all the Army traditions that were part of the wedding. We had a picnic the next day, just like we did after Rob's and my wedding, and tons of people were at our house. Cleaning up was not very much fun, but then Jenn, Jake, Adam, Molly, Mom, Dad and I played Apples to Apples. Somehow this escalated into Jake telling us a story about gnomes multiplying on the patio of the condo he is renting from someone he knows. (This someone likes gnomes and left them behind.) Shelly and PJ came back from PJ's house in the midst of this all (it was their last night at home so they were splitting up time to say good-byes) and we all laughed non-stop for hours over Jake's gnome jokes. I think it was probably a you had to be there kind of funny, but the next day I bought a gnome from Catans, named him Fudwig and now he lives at our house. It makes me laugh all the time. :)
I failed a little at compiling pictures before I left. Mom has a stick drive with pictures from Grandpa and Cindy and more pictures on the computer at home that I didn't get. Luckily, I printed a few while I was at home and am planning on putting them in a collage with some of our wedding pictures and hanging it in the hallway. There are a few pictures on my food blog that aren't here because I wrote that post on the computer at home, where the pictures from my parents' camera are saved. If you haven't seen that post yet, shoot over there for the pictures. (www.bakingserendipity.blogspot.com) And, here are a few of the pictures from my camera...

Cakes! The big cake was champagne (which colored it pink) funfetti and the groom's was chocolate.

I know there aren't too many pictures here, but you can see the pictures from the photographer if you have any interest. They are on Facebook; if you are too, search for Pech's Photography. Or, you can see even more pictures at their website, www.pechsography.com. The password it asks for on the front page is "kaiser" and then you just enter your e-mail address.
Okay, back to my old routine. I am going to throw in a load of laundry and go to the Y to lift weights. Exciting stuff, I tell you. Hope all is well with everyone. Miss and love you, Sarah and Rob
