What's This? An Update!?!?!

Hi, my name is Sarah and I have a blog that talks about more than just food... I thought you might need a reminder too! In the past few weeks my mother and mother-in-law have lovingly complimented my food blog, and mentioned the lack of well, anything, over here. Oops. I know I said I wouldn't get too wrapped up in my food blog and ignore this old friend, but for a long time (clearly), I kept searching for ideas for a post and coming up blank. Rob was working 12+ hour days, 6+ days a week (I know, yuck, right?) and I was hibernating in the air conditioning because summer and its 110+ days had arrived in all their glory. There was simply nothing interesting to say. I've decided to change that and convince you all that we do more than just eat all day :)

A few weeks back, I planned a date for Rob and I. We got massages at the spa where I get my hair done, had dessert at Cheesecake Factory and went on a mini shopping spree with all the gift cards we had piling up. I'll admit, it was a bit of a girly date, but I think Rob at least enjoyed the massage and cheesecake parts, and we got some awesome new stuff :) Rob has a new tie to wear to Shelly and PJ's wedding and I have a new pair of shoes (because no shopping experience is complete without shoes :)). We also bought a nice tall tool to trim the gigantic tree in the front of our house. And...this last one is most exciting...picture frames for the wall in the family room that match the stain of the coffee table perfectly and one of the reed diffuser gadgets that makes our entire house smell like Pottery Barn. (Cindy and John sent us a Pottery Barn gift card when we moved into our new house, so a big thanks to them for the frames and lovely scent :))

Here is a picture of the frames, hanging on the wall

And a zoomed out picture that also showcases the chair I bought at Pier One. (I've been wanting this kind of chair since college, and I love it!!)

It's a little hard to see the pictures, but they are pictures that I actually took of different landscapes. Here's the original pictures...

This is in Flagstaff, where we went for Rob's birthday last year, expecting colorful leaves and found snow!

This is on a flight out to California back in early March. I flew through the clouds for the first time on this trip!!

And these are wildflowers we found in the Superstition Mountains when Rob and I went on a little off-roading/photographing adventure during the time I had off for spring break during my student teaching.

Other new little decorations include...

...a wedding picture above the little table in the hallway...
...and a collage of pictures in the guest bathroom.

It is coming together slowly, but surely. The next big projects are to trim the giant tree in the front yard and organize all of our extra stuff in the garage. It sounds like these made Rob's to-do list when I am home for Shelly's wedding. Speaking of, although this post is a short update, I leave for home tomorrow (!!!) and really need to start packing. I will post pictures when I get back to Arizona from the wedding and my trip in a few weeks :) Hope all is well and can't wait to see many of you soon! Love, Sarah and Rob
